Cyclones Rec-Select
Our program goal is to develop players into lifelong athletes. We participate in several instate tournaments and scrimmages with 1 out of state tournament.
Age Groups
Clearwater Cyclones accepts players in the following playing in 8U - 16U.
Program Duration
The program runs from September to April.
Program Cost
- Tournament Player: $2250
- Developmental Player: $1150
Practices
Practices are held at Clearwater Ice Arena mostly on Saturdays and sometimes Sunday, this is all based on the availability at the rink.

What age group does my child fall under?
For the 2025 / 2026 season, USA Hockey has defined the age groups based on the following birth years:
- 8U (2018/2017)
- 10U (2016/2015)
- 12U (2014/2013)
- 14U (2012/2011)
- 16U (2010/2009)
Is my child guaranteed a spot on the Tournament Team if they are a returning player?
Returning players are NOT guaranteed a spot on the Tournament Team.
Does my child need to be in the in-house program to be part of the Cyclones?
Yes, all Cyclones players must be in the in-house program at Clearwater to participate.
2025-26 Season
Tryout Registration
Tryouts are June 14th.
* 8U & 10U = 9:45am - 11am
* 12U, 14U, 18U* = 12:45p - 2pm
Players must have have above average skating skills as rec-select is a faster pace with more advanced practices.
Players MUST be registered in order to tryout.
