REC & Cyclones Aging Up Information
Aging Up Dates
To help clear up any confusion regarding CIA Rec Hockey and/or Cyclones Spring/Summer team birth years and event participation - please see the information below.
REC and Player Aging Up
Players register for fall & winter based on the current USA Hockey Registration year. Example 2014 & 2015 birth years would be 10U.
Spring / Summer
The current birth year goes through spring/summer therefore with the example before, 2014 & 2015 players will typically stay in 10U.
July / August onwards
With the new USA Hockey Registration, those players aging up will move up a division. IE, a 2014 will move up to 12U and a 2016 would move up to 10U.
Cyclones Spring Aging Up
Players register for fall & winter based on the current USA Hockey Registration year. Example 2014 & 2015 birth years would be 10U.
Spring / Summer
Spring hockey and rec-select / travel tournaments tend to be the wild wild west. Meaning, each tournament is looking to fill slots and they tend to not have as many roster restrictions.
From March - May 1 events, players nearly always are to play in their current birth year registration. IE, a 2014 would be in 10U.
From May 1 - June 1 events, they are tournament specific, some roster based on the next USA Hockey year, some go based on current year.
June 1 - August 31 events, these all are based on the next USA Hockey calendar year registration.
